Under what circumstances does IOSS not apply?

December 16, 2022

If the following conditions apply, import transactions cannot be declared through IOSS:

1. The value of the product exceeds 150 Euros.

2. The same buyer purchases several items, and the total value of these items exceeds 150 Euros and they are all shipped in one package. These items will be settled in the importing country according to the original rules when imported into the EU. The tax authority will determine the party responsible for the taxes.

3. Buyers are business and non personal consumers.

4. Commodities must pay excise tax (alcohol or tobacco products, etc.).

But then is the IOSS convenient?

The Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) is established to simplify the process of customs clearance and declaration and payment of import VAT for goods (value less than 150 €) imported into EU countries.

  • Fast customs clearance
  • Simplify logistics
  • Pricing is transparent
  • Reduce the compliance burden
  • Crossborderit registers non-EU sellers for an IOSS ID number, which is unique to each seller. And a mandatory requirement if you want to sell to the EU consumer.

CBIT acts as an IOSS intermediary on behalf of its customers offering them security and confidence when shipping to the EU. This allows the marketplace to continue selling your products effortlessly and without much effort.

Sign up with Crossborderit and ship hassle-free.
