Don't worry, there is still time to enroll in the IOSS

December 16, 2022

Businesses shipping to the EU can now use the IOSS electronic portal to fulfill their e-commerce Value Added Tax (VAT) obligations on distance sales of imported goods. The previous VAT rules, under which import VAT was not required for trade goods with a value up to €22, have now expired.

Therefore, all commercial goods imported into the EU from a third country or a third territory will be subject to VAT regardless of their value.

IOSS is the solution for your shipments to the EU

IOSS allows electronic interfaces selling imported goods to buyers in the EU to collect, declare and pay VAT to the tax authorities, instead of having the customer handle the VAT at the time the goods are imported into the EU as before.

If the seller is not registered with IOSS, the buyer must pay VAT and usually a customs clearance fee charged by the carrier.
